Pressurizing ROVVER X Sewer Inspection Crawler Components

Maintaining proper system pressure is essential to protecting your ROVVER X crawler. This mechanism allows operators to know whether a certain component is losing air, indicating a leak path by which water can enter system. When you re-pressurize system components, it should last for several days or weeks. If a component is losing pressure more regularly, a service visit is in order.

VC200 Low Pressure Warning

If a system component is under pressure you will see a warning flashing in the status bar at the top of your VC 200 pendant. The display shows 3 operating statuses:

  1. Solid red indicator: Pressure is too high.
  2. Blinking red indicator: Pressure is too low.
  3. Solid gray indicator: Pressure is within the optimal range.

To investigate this warning, simply click device control and then click system status. You will see every component that is under pressure in red. The minimum threshold for pressure in ROVVER X components is 500 mbar.

 

 
To pressurize a RVX component you’ll need four tools:

  1. The camera tool that is supplied with your ROVVER X crawler.

  2. A canister of dry nitrogen or CO2*.

  3. A regulator attached to the canister.

  4. A valve adapter that threads into your RVX system component.

* Using shop air or paint gun CO2 will introduce moisture into the system, which can condense and fog up your field of view.

 


Now locate where the pressurization valve is on the component to be pressurized:

  1. On the camera head it is on the side of the camera.

  2. On the crawler body it is behind the rear left wheel.

  3. On the camera lift the pressurization valve cover is on the top portion to the side.

 


Once the pressurization valve has been located, take the camera tool and remove the valve cover. Now thread in the valve adapter until it is fully seated.

 


Now it’s time to pressurize the component. First, ensure the regulator is set to around 10 psi. Take the nozzle from the regulator and simply apply it to the valve adaptor that’s threaded into the RVX system component.

Once you’ve done that, simply unthread the valve adapter and replace the cover with the camera tool.


You’ll want to confirm that you have properly pressurized your components. On the VC200 pendant simply go back to device control and then system status. The component that you have just pressurized should within the acceptable 500-1000mbar range as indicated by the green text.
